totc 2006

Separating the wheat from the chaff... This is where we focus on the formations that have caught our eye during the 2006 crop circle season.

Etchilhampton

Above: Following on from the Blowingstone Hill crop circle this distorted grid formation - the last UK circle of the year - appeared at Etchilhampton, Wiltshire on the 15th August.

Blowingstone

Above: This fantastic optical checker board formation appeared at Blowingstone Hill, Oxfordshire on the 6th August.

Aldbourne ground

Aldbourne

Above: This is the third in a series of formation using nested crescents. It was discovered at Aldbourne in Wiltshire on 11th July and has been variously described as a time tunnel and a wormhole.

Boxley

Above: This beautifully executed fractal snowflake design was discovered at Boxley in Kent on the 8th July.

Savernake

Above: Following on from the formation at Windmill Hill, this formation incorporating similar optical crescents was discovered at Savernake Forrest on 8th July.

Waylands Smithy

Above: This 3D formation which resembles skyscrapers (which some have tied to the twin towers) appeared at Waylands Smithy in Oxfordshire on 8th July.

Windmill Hill

Windmill Hill

Above: The season exploded into action with this fantastic optical formation, described by some as a time portal. It appeared at Windmill Hill in Wiltshire on 30th June. The farmer obviously doesn't appreciate great art as he destroyed the formation completely shortly after these photos were taken leaving only a blank rectangle in the field where the formation used to be.
